Official NoBACoN Rules

0.  Don’t be a dick.

We are all here to have fun, poor sportsmanship and bad attitudes ruin other people’s fun and will not be tolerated.

1.  Safety First.

Events are attended at your own risk. Neither NoBACoN, or the property owner of the event site will be held responsible for injuries or the loss or damage of personal property sustained during the event.

Persons under 18 years old will be required to have a Release of Liability form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Nerf blasters are a kid’s toy, so of course last thing we want to do is set an age limit. However, children 10 or under MUST be accompanied by an adult. Your children must be mature enough to understand that this is an organized, competitive team event, not a free-for-all, and they must be able to work as part of a team, listen, and follow instructions.

Eye protection is mandatory. Sunglasses or prescription lenses are fine.

Physical contact with other players is prohibited, except with approved melee weapons. Please exercise restraint with melee. Remember, we are tagging, not fighting, and no shield bashing (see rule 0).

At any time during a round, a "Hold" may be called, which will temporarily pause that round. Players should repeat the call of Hold so that all other players hear, until the round stops completely. If a pedestrian is walking through the field, if a player is injured or if there is some other threat to personal safety, you are obligated to call hold. Do NOT move or change field position while a hold is called, consider yourself paused.

2.  Equipment.

Don't touch other people's equipment without asking!

Modified blasters are permitted, with an FPS cap of 150fps. Modified blasters must be approved by a moderator before use. Blasters may not be painted to look like real guns.

Don't touch other people's equipment without asking! (seriously!)

Stock ammo only (including off- brand bulk darts and manufactured half-lengths). Darts must be unmodified. No homemade darts or slugs. If you choose to bring your own darts please mark them if you do not want them swept into the dart pool.

We offer (and encourage) a $5 dart rental which allows you access to the dart pool all day. Mega Darts, Rival HIRs and Vortex discs are also available in limited amounts.

Approved foam melee weapons and shields may be used for most game-types. Weapons and shields can block darts, but larger caliber ammo (Mega darts, Demolisher rockets, Nerf arrows, Z-bombs, socks, etc.) count as “shield buster” rounds.

When a shield is "busted" with shield-breaking ammo, the shield is out of play for the rest of the round. The shield bearer is considered tagged out when their shield is busted. They can leave the shield at their respawn until the round is over. A shield is only functional, or "in play" when the bearer is holding it, or has it strapped to their forearm. Shields may not be used as weapons.

3.  Gameplay

A 'hit' or 'tag' is when a dart contacts your person, clothing, gear or blaster (yes, headshots count). When you are hit, raise your blaster above your head and return to your spawn point for the specified time. If you tag a player out, call the hit. If another player calls a hit on you, take the hit. If you are not sure that you hit someone, don't call the hit.

When in doubt, just take the hit (see rule 0). If everyone is honest, we all have fun. If a moderator sees you arguing a hit you will be asked to sit out the remander of the round.

If you do experience disagreements with other players, witness cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct, please speak to a moderator in private.

Do not shoot people when you are out of play or between rounds.

Darts may only be picked up off the ground while you are in play, not while respawning. Ammo carried on your person may be used to reload while re-spawning.

All darts and equipment to be used during gameplay must be carried on your person. Spawn points are not your armory, please do not leave extra ammo or gear for use during the game.

Specific rules and limitations may apply depending on the game being played, these rules will be explained before each game.

A dart sweep will occur between every round of play, all players MUST HELP to collect darts!

We don’t have the time (or the desire) to “keep an eye” on problem players, or to repeatedly reprimand rule-breakers, so we have a policy of giving one warning before we send someone home for the day. We all make mistakes, but as long as we all follow Rule 0 this shouldn’t be a problem.
